A Favourite from Rod McKuen

There is no single day or time

within the life

I've so far lived

that I'd have changed or altered.

Possibly there are some days

I could have missed

and never missed,

but I suspect that I could not

have come down to this place a different way.

As I suspect that being here

I don't as yet know where I am.

Tongue in Cheek

I am a faithful follower of Corey Amos' blog: Tongue in Cheek. She is gifted with making the ordinary "extraordinary" and is a true inspiration to all of us who are transformed by both her photographic skills and her wordmanship. She is inspiring me to get back to my own poetry.

COURAGE

At the beginning of this new year, I encountered a blog which suggested that you choose a word that will become Your Word for the year. My Inner Voice immediately spoke COURAGE - so that is my personal mantra for 2008. It is a perfect choice for it is an attribute that I feel I have not embraced for most of my lifetime. I might as well venture forth into my sixty-second year with that empowering word on my lips... and see what manifests!

Above the computer is this quote from Christopher Robin to Pooh - what better mentor for my new found COURAGE:

You're braver than you believe,

and stronger than you seem,

and smarter than you think.

eat,pray,love

As of January 20th, I have four books on my bedside table with a determination to do more reading in 2008. I am especially enjoying the humour and spiritual reflection prevalent in Elizabeth Gilbert's: eat, pray, love. Along with Syb and Jill, I will be seeing/hearing her in person at the Kay Meek Center, West Vancouver on March 31st. Truly looking forward to that evening's experience.

Inspiration

I was inspired to begin a New Year's blog with this quote by Gwen Randall-Young from COMMON GROUND:

This entire lifetime, even the lifetime of our species, is but a brief instant. Perhaps the ego experience is like a reverse dream for soul. Life may simply be soul's dreaming, dropping for a brief time into worldliness.
